“Boaz & Jachin” Oil Painting

“Boaz & Jachin” Oil Painting.

Boaz and Jachin are the names of the two columns that guarded the entrance to Solomon’s Temple in Jerusalem, marking the threshold between the profane and the sacred. They are a recurring symbol in esoteric traditions, where they do not merely represent opposing forces but rather the complementary principles that uphold the cosmic order. The dark column, Boaz, embodies the passive, lunar, and receptive pole; the light column, Jachin, expresses the active, solar, and operative pole.

The artwork evokes this eternal balance between the great cosmic polarities: day and night, sun and moon, masculine and feminine, act and potency. This balance is neither relative nor subjective, but a direct expression of a universal and sacred order. In contrast to contemporary nihilism—which dissolves meaning, denies principles, and reduces reality to mere contingency—Boaz and Jachin remind us that there exists a metaphysical architecture that precedes and surpasses the modern world: a polar structure that, when integrated, leads once again toward the unity that transcends them.

In this painting, duality becomes tangible through the contrast between gold and silver, and between black and white, playing with positive and negative space. The composition blends the solemnity and detail of classical portraiture with geometric blocks that introduce a modern, abstract rhythm. The strong emphasis on verticality and the interaction of forms reinforce the concept of balance between opposites, allowing the work not only to be seen but to be experienced as a reflection of the harmony that sustains the universe.
