Hello!

Carlos Dorian Atellier

My passion for drawing and art comes from my first childhood memories. I would spend hours drawing and coloring, creating my own world on paper. I was fascinated by the endless possibilities that a simple pencil and a piece of paper could offer. My love for art only grew as I grew older, and I knew that I wanted to turn my passion into my profession.

I had the great fortune to win an important scholarship at the “Escuela de Grabado” of the “Real Casa de la Moneda (FNMT-RCM)” in Madrid, Spain, where I studied various techniques and styles for four years. I learned about drawing, painting, engraving, lithography, modeling… and how to use different media to express myself creatively. It was a challenging but rewarding experience, as I was constantly pushing myself to improve and find my own voice as an artist.

After finishing my higher studies at the Madrid School of Art, where I obtained a Bachelor of Art with a specialty in Graphic Design, I started working as an independent artist and for 15 years I have been the Creative Director of my own Graphic Design Firm, something that It has always influenced my work, incorporating geometric, graphic or typographic elements into it.

Today, I am proud to say that I have become an accomplished artist, pursuing my lifelong dream of creating and sharing my vision with others. I am grateful for the journey I have been on, and I am excited to continue growing as an artist and exploring new avenues for my work. My love for art will always be a constant in my life, and I am grateful for the opportunities it has brought me.

What does it take to be a Great Master?

Passion, Dedication & a lot of coffee

My Influences

I, as an artist, have been deeply influenced by some of the most iconic artistic currents and painters in history. I am passionate about Medieval Painting, Quattrocento, Ukiyo-e, Aestheticism, Victorian Painting and Art Deco. And some of my favorite artists, that influenced my work, are Jan van Eyck, Utagawa Hiroshige, Edward Burne-Jones, Arthur Rackham, Erté, J. C. Leyendecker, John William Waterhouse, Lord Frederic Leighton, Edgar Maxence or Carlos Schwabe.

The works of Edward Burne-Jones have been an influence on his love of the Pre-Raphaelite style of art. His romantic and dreamy depictions of medieval legends and classical myths have left a lasting impression on my imagination. I admire the way he combines traditional techniques with his own unique vision to create captivating and timeless images.

These Masters have not only influenced my paintings, but have also challenged me to continually evolve as a painter. By combining elements of his techniques with my own creative vision, I am able to produce works that are beautiful and meaningful. I am grateful for the impact these artists have had on my own artistic journey and am constantly inspired to explore new avenues in my work.

Why of this website?

I decided to create this space to show my works and make them available to anyone; directly from the artist to the collector, without intermediaries or commissions. One of the things that I like the most about the internet is that democratization that makes us all equal and offers us the possibility of making relevant content known to a whole world without borders.

Because I don’t belive in the the Art Establishment, you will not find my works in Galleries or Art Fairs, but if you are interested in them, you can purchase or contact me directly.

All my works are made with a lot of love and passion and I truly hope that you enjoy these little magical works.

Why “Arts & Graphx”?

This motto is inspired by the artistic movement called “Arts & Crafts”, which emerged in Great Britain at the end of the 19th century and led by William Morris; who promulgated a return to artisanal processes, a simpler life and a more just and egalitarian society in the face of low-quality mass production and the dehumanized society that was developing with the rise of the industrial revolution. Through this movement some of the most beautiful artistic and design pieces of the 19th century were developed.

Like Morris, I believe that traditional techniques must be preserved as part of our cultural heritage. I also believe that a handmade work made with passion is an object of great value, special and unique, even with its slight imperfections, which are the mark of the human being who created it. I really feel closer to the artists / artisans of past centuries than to contemporary artists or the past decades.

In my work I try to combine techniques and elements from the world of Art with others from the world of Graphics, merging the two passions that I have developed during my professional career… hence “Arts & Graphx”.
